Kennedy is a 16 year old girl who was born with lymphatic malformation. With the help of her family and friends she is trying to raise funds for research that will hopefully lead to better treatment options for herself and for others that have this disease. Proceeds from the sale of bracelets, t-shirts and car magnets are donated to The Vascular Anomalies Center at the Children’s Hospital Boston where Kennedy travels to for her treatment. All items have one word in common- SHINE- which was chosen by Kennedy in hopes to remind people to “let their inner beauty SHINE” and also as a message that inner beauty is all that truly matters. She also hopes to remind people to not judge based only on appearances and to inspire others who are faced with challenges or differences. be kind. be proud. SHINE…
Marna’s Pals, aka The Marna Pal Memorial Scholarship Fund, was founded in January of 2012 by Elizabeth Diaz and David Pal as a charitable organization that helps students whose families have been affected by cancer. This organization was names in honor of David’s mother, Marna, who passed away from Pancreatic Cancer in 2008, when David was a Freshman at Rutgers. This traumatic experience was only two years after David’s father, Thomas, passed away from cardiac complications. Having gone through a very challenging two years, David was fortunate to receive scholarships from Rutgers towards his education, and because of this assistance, David and Liz wanted to help more students in the same way.
